Silversea · 220 guests · Polar Class 6
Silver Endeavour
Built in Stralsund as the most capable expedition ship of her size, a Polar Class 6 hull with a butler in every suite. The ship Silversea sends to Svalbard, Jan Mayen and the fjords of East Greenland each summer.
Silversea
The highest ice class in the Silversea fleet, with a butler in every suite.
Silver Endeavour was built at MV Werften in Stralsund and delivered in June 2021 as Crystal Endeavor, then bought by Silversea in 2022 and renamed for Captain Cook’s ship. She is 164.5 metres and 20,449 tonnes, carries 220 guests with 207 crew, and holds Polar Class 6, the highest ice classification of any ship in the Silversea fleet. In the Arctic she sails from Longyearbyen and Reykjavik on voyages of seven to seventeen nights.
Silver Endeavour moments
Between the landings the ship runs at Silversea’s own tempo: a late breakfast on the terrace, a lecture in the Explorer Lounge, an afternoon in the Otium spa, an aperitif as the ship moves to the next anchorage. The expedition goes out twice a day. The rest is yours.

Breakfast at The Grill or in the suite
The Grill opens onto the aft deck and the butler brings breakfast to the suite on the mornings you would rather watch the fjord from bed. The first Zodiacs leave soon after.

Life on board
A day aboard Silver Endeavour is a Silversea day: the expedition twice, the butler in between, and the ship’s own calm around both. These are the rooms it happens in.
Every suite has a veranda or a view, a butler and an in-suite bar stocked to your taste. Nine categories, from the Classic Veranda to the Owner’s Suite.

Suites
Every accommodation aboard is a suite with butler service and an in-suite bar. The Veranda suites are the heart of the ship; the Silver, Signature, Master, Grand and Owner’s suites add space and position.

Classic Veranda Suite
The entry suite, with a private veranda, a sitting area, a marbled bathroom and a butler. The suite most guests choose for the Arctic.

Silver Endeavour
Built for the ice, bought for the Arctic
Silver Endeavour was ordered by Crystal Cruises in 2016, laid down at MV Werften in Stralsund in 2018 and delivered in June 2021 as Crystal Endeavor, the largest purpose-built expedition ship to hold Polar Class 6 at the time. When Crystal’s parent company collapsed, Silversea bought her in 2022, renamed her for the ship in which James Cook charted the east coast of Australia, and gave her the polar seasons.
She carries 220 guests in 110 suites with 207 crew, diesel-electric propulsion on two Azipods, and a hull rated for the first-year ice of the Arctic summer. Her mudroom opens directly to the Zodiac doors, and her expedition team works from the Explorer Lounge, with a library and a photography programme behind them.
In the north she sails the Svalbard season from June, crosses to Jan Mayen and Iceland in July and spends late August in Scoresby Sund and the fjords of East Greenland. We have planned her voyages for both poles.

The expedition
How a day ashore is made
Silversea sails the Arctic with an expedition team of around twenty: naturalists, ornithologists, geologists, historians and photographers, with two outings a day when the ice and the weather allow.
The glacier fronts, the bird cliffs and the ice edge are explored from the Zodiacs, which leave from doors at the waterline.

Silver Endeavour, in practice
The questions we are asked most before guests choose this ship.
220 guests in 110 suites, with 207 crew, which gives nearly one crew member per guest. Under Svalbard’s 2025 rules, ships carrying up to 200 passengers may land in the protected areas; Silver Endeavour carries up to 220, and we confirm with Silversea how each Svalbard departure is operated under the rule before you book.
Yes. Polar Class 6 is the highest ice class in the Silversea fleet and suits the summer sea ice of Svalbard and the fjords of East Greenland. She does not attempt the North Pole, which is Le Commandant Charcot’s territory.
Everything at the table and in the suite: all dining, champagne, wines and spirits, the in-suite bar, the butler, gratuities and port taxes. The expedition outings, the parka and the lectures are included. Flights, hotels and spa treatments are not, and we build the rest around it.
The Classic and Deluxe Veranda suites are the right choice for most guests. For the Arctic we prefer a mid-ship suite on a higher deck for the view of the ice, and we will tell you which numbers.
Through Oslo for Longyearbyen and through Reykjavik for the Iceland and Greenland voyages, with a night in each before embarkation. Silversea offers an optional flight package; we usually arrange the flights ourselves with the nights either side.

Tell us your Arctic, we build the rest
Every guest sails differently. Tell us what you are hoping for and who you are travelling with, and we shape the voyage aboard Le Lyrial around it: the sailing, the stateroom, the flights from Australia, the nights in Paris, and the offers we hold for Arctic Cruise guests. One specialist, from the first conversation until you are home.

Other ships we sail
Each ship we work with has her own character and her own Arctic. Le Commandant Charcot is the icebreaker for the North Pole; L’Austral and Le Boréal, her sisters, sail Greenland and the Northwest Passage.
