10 nights, Nuuk to Reykjavik

The whole west coast, from Disko Bay to the Norse south, in ten nights

Ten nights that run the length of Greenland’s inhabited coast. North first, from Nuuk to Sisimiut and the icefjord at Ilulissat, where the fastest glacier in the northern hemisphere fills the bay with icebergs, then the calving front of Eqip Sermia and the basalt island of Qeqertarsuaq. Then south: Evighedsfjord, Paamiut, the Norse church ruin at Hvalsey, Qaqortoq and the passage of Prince Christian Sound before the Denmark Strait and Reykjavik.

Silver Wind is the ship for this coast: the classic Silversea suites and four restaurants, a butler for every suite, and the expedition team and Zodiacs added in her 2021 conversion. The midnight sun lasts the whole voyage.

Signature moments

Five moments that make the voyage

The west coast is sailed by its towns and its ice, and the order is fixed by the ports. These are the moments the voyage is built around.

The icefjord at Ilulissat

Sermeq Kujalleq moves up to forty metres a day and fills the bay below the town with icebergs. The boardwalk to the fjord is the best short walk in the Arctic, and the Zodiacs go among the ice.

Day by day

Ten nights, in outline

From Silversea’s published itinerary for 9 July 2027, voyage WI270709010. The ice and the weather can reorder the days; the full programme comes with the proposal we write for you.

Embark in Greenland’s capital, reached by air from Copenhagen or Reykjavik. The National Museum and the old harbour are an afternoon’s walk from the pier.
